Deadline Day Transfer Rumours

1. Three strikers Arsenal could sign on transfer deadline day (METRO.co.uk)

With deadline day almost upon us, Arsene Wenger must sign a striker to bolster the Gunners attack. There are not too many options available to the Gunners manager though and with Loic Remy joining Chelsea, there really is a lack of available fron tmen. However there are some, here’s three:

1) Wilfried Bony
The Ivorian is a proven Premier League striker and has already said he wants a move to a bigger club. He would likely be sold for a bid of around £20million. He’s already proven to be a goalscorer in England has the necessary attributes to play as a lone striker for Arsenal. He’s strong, good in the air and can link up with Arsenal’s elite midfielders. He’s not world class, but there aren’t many of those available at this stage, so he’s a good option.

2) Carlos Bacca
This name has come out of nowhere, but Goal are suggesting Arsenal will bid for Bacca. The 27-year-old Colombian managed 14 La Liga goals last season for Sevilla and is a proven goalscorer in a good league. His asking price of £12.5million is not a lot and he could be seen as a worthy stop gap for Olivier Giroud whilst he overcomes his injuries. He’s not a world class player and is unlikely to fire Arsenal to the title, but he’s definitely an improvement on Yaya Sanogo.

3) Radamel Falcao
This is the one all Arsenal fans will hope happens. It looks extremely unlikely as he’ll be ridiculously expensive, but Arsene can’t afford to be too picky when it comes to prices considering he’s left it until the final day. Falcao would add a killer instinct to Arsenal’s attack and unlike fellow Colombian Carlos Bacca, would add world class quality to the squad. It is in a stalemate like against Leicester that Falcao might have made the difference for Arsenal and gained them two points.
Arsenal fans will hope Wenger manages to sign a striker before the 11pm deadline. Falcao is the best, but most unrealistic option. I think Bony might be the most likely at this stage, but Swansea don’t have to sell and could hold out for £25million.

2. Arsenal pushing to sign £55m Radamel Falcao ahead of transfer deadline(METRO.co.uk)

Arsenal are pushing to sign Monaco striker Radamel Falcao ahead of the transfer deadline – but face competition from Manchester City.
Falcao has been told he can leave Monaco this summer as they attempt to balance their finances, and after a switch to Real Madrid collapsed, Arsenal have stepped in.
According to the Guardian, Monaco have offered the striker to Arsenal and made it clear they’re happy to sell him for a fee of £55million.
The transfer is complicated by interest from City, who have more financial clout, and are working on trying to make the deal fit with Financial Fair Play.
But Arsenal will be hopeful of doing business as they look to add another striker following Olivier Giroud’s long-term injury.
Falcao’s future is expected to go right down to the wire, with his agent Jorge Mendes prepared to leave things until the last minute to get the best possible deal.
Arsenal have a habit of pulling off big money transfer deadline day deals, having signed Mesut Ozil and Andrey Arshavin in recent years.

3. Can Arsenal shock Borussia Dortmund with a last-gasp £40m bid for Marco Reus? (METRO.co.uk)

Arsenal are desperate to add a new striker with the transfer window close to slamming shut. There are a lack of options available, but one player who could be converted to a central striker in Marco Reus.
The German has a £30million release clause that will be in place from next summer, so the Dortmund hierachy know they have a battle on their hands to keep hold of him.
Reus primarily plays as an attacking midfielder for Dortmund but he does has the ability to play as a striker.
Whilst he would lack that strength up top, he’d still add a lot of quality to Arsenal’s attacking options. He could play on the wing too and would be a very good replacement for Lukas Podolski who could leave on deadline day.
Shinji Kagawa, who plays in Reus’ position looks set to re-join Borussia Dortmund on deadline day for around £6million. To me this looks like Dortmund planning for life after Reus as they know he will more than likely leave next summer, at the latest. An offer of £40million would be hard to turn down, and considering Angel di Maria cost £60million, Reus would be worth every penny.
He’s got pace, skill, a tidy finisher and has world class potential. Whilst playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Reus impressed as a striker and at 5ft 11, he wouldn’t be the shortest striker Arsenal have.
He’s not a player who likes to hold the ball up but has the necessary skill-set to be crafted into one. If it counts for anything, Reus’ idol is Tomas Rosicky and the player has an admiration for the Gunners. It also goes without saying that his style of play would see him fit in perfectly with our attack.
Reus is 25 and is entering the prime of his career. He’d be worth every penny of the £40million I think we should offer, and I believe Dortmund would find that very hard to reject. They have a replacement coming in on deadline day in Kagawa, so a deal could potentially happen.

4. Arsene Wenger says Arsenal will be 'very active' before the transfer deadline after disappointing draw away at Leicester(DailyMail.co.uk)

Arsene Wenger said Arsenal will be 'very active' before the transfer deadline as they continue their hunt for new players.
The Gunners lost out on Loic Remy, who moved to Chelsea, and after a disappointing 1-1 draw at Leicester, Wenger's hunt for a striker is likely to intensify.
The 64-year-old told Sky: 'Look, the decision is not to make but to find the personnel - that's the problem. We are open (to new signings) and we work on it. We are very active.'

Loic Remy Hijack Move

Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Loic Remy's move to Chelsea to be hijacked by Arsene Wenger? (Mirror.co.uk)

The Gunners have made a last-gasp offer for Loic Remy as the Frenchman closed in on a switch to Chelsea.
The QPR striker has been linked with a move to north London all summer but a bid failed to materialise.
However according to the Telegraph, Arsenal have now triggered Remy's £10.5million buy-out clause.
Remy didn't feature against QPR yesterday and is now set to decide on his next move, although Chelsea remain confident of concluding the deal.

1. Arsenal close on William Carvalho transfer after making new £21.3m bid (METRO.co.uk)

Arsenal are confident of signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho before Monday’s transfer deadline after making a new £21.3million bid for his services.
The Gunners have been following Carvalho for the last three weeks and were reported to have made a bid in excess of £20million, which was immediately rejected by Sporting.
However, the Portuguese club have now dropped their asking price and are keen to sell, and Goal.com says Arsenal have come back with a new bid.

It’s claimed that the offer is £21.3million (€27million) and Arsene Wenger is increasingly confident of getting his man.
The complex nature of the deal means the switch could go right down to the final few minutes of the window, but all parties want to do business.

2. Arsenal battling to sign Barcelona ace Munir El Haddadi in £9.4m transfer deal (METRO.co.uk)

Arsenal want to sign Barcelona sensation Munir El Haddadi but are facing a battle to convince him to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Munir, 18, is the next big talent to emerge from Barca’s academy and he announced himself in style with a goal against Elche CF on his La Liga debut last week.
And the Daily Express says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen on doing a deal to sign him, and have been boosted by the fact his buyout clause is only £9.4million.
However, the paper adds that Barcelona are hitting back by opening talks with the striker over a new contract, and they’re prepared to offer much more in wages.
Arsenal will find it difficult to compete, but the Gunners have pinched several starlets from Barca in recent years including Cesc Fabregas, Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral.

3. Joel Campbell NOT for sale insists Arsene Wenger as deadline day looms (MIRROR.co.uk)

Stay away: Wenger has said Campbell is going nowhere this summer

Arsene Wenger has issued a hands-off warning to clubs wanting to poach striker Joel Campbell, writes Tom Hopkinson of the Sunday People.
Costa Rica star Campbell is being watched by Italian giants AC Milan and other leading sides after his World Cup heroics.
Wenger, who has lost injured striker Olivier Giroud for three months, said: “We have had a lot of offers for Joel and have turned them all down.
“There are plenty of clubs – I don’t know exactly how many because once I said to my assistants, ‘He will not go out on loan’, if somebody calls them they don’t even tell me any more because, when I say no, it’s no.
"But he is definitely a player wanted by many clubs.”

4. Arsenal keep tabs on Torino winger Alessio Cerci... as Benfica hold out for Joel Campbell loan (DailyMail.co.uk)

Arsenal are watching with interest as Alessio Cerci has again been left out of Torino’s squad, this time to face Inter Milan.
Arsenal have enquired about the Italy international but the stronger interest is coming from Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal have been contacted again by Sporting Lisbon about a deal for William Carvalho and that may prove timely after Roma made Adrien Rabiot of Paris St Germain a tempting offer on Friday. Wenger is a big fan of Rabiot who is 19 and provides cover for various midfield positions.

Carvalho has been pushed to Manchester United also but they do not wish to pursue a deal for a player they believe is overpriced.
Sporting are willing to accept around £24m and would like a player on loan. The complication is third-party ownership and as Manchester United have found out that can delay proceedings. Not ideal with 48 hours to go.
Benfica holding out for Campbell loan deal
Benfica, meanwhile, are holding out hope that Arsenal will allow Joel Campbell out on loan or even sell but that is extremely unlikely.
Wenger has stipulated several times he wants the player to stay and may consider a late loan only if successful in signing a striker.
